Hot Sauce! 2002 Calendar
Published in Calendar by Ronnie Sellers Productions (May, 2001)
Authors: Jennifer Trainer Thompson and Kristen Brochmann
Average review score:

Great calendar!
Okay, I'm the author so I'm going to give it a glowing review. I've written several books about hot sauces, and continue to be entranced by their names (I Am On Fire Ready to Die), their labels (outrageous and challenging the boundaries of politically incorrect) and the fact that they are just fun -- they are funny and make you laugh. Give this to your hot sauce loving friends, or just for yourself, if you need a good laugh. (BTW, I also make the sauce called Jump Up and Kiss Me.)

Hound of Heaven and Other Poems
Published in Paperback by Branden Publishing Co (June, 1978)
Authors: Francis Thompson and G. K. Chesterton
Average review score:

Beautiful! Thought provoking! Touching!
This small book of Francis Thompson's poems is a beautiful experience. "The Hound of Heaven" is the crowning glory of the piece. How often I have found my self running from the "Footsteps" following me. I think the line "All which I took from thee I did but take, Not for thy harms, But just that thou might'st seek it in My arms." is one of the most comforting to those who have lost and suffered. Also very special are Daisy and Little Jesus. Francis Thompson was born before his time a little appreciated then but he is definitely a poet for our moral declining culture. I am fancinated by his love of nature. I would recomend these little poems to anyone who feels lost, afraid, alone and in pain, and to anyone who wants to feel closer to God.

An Emotionally Charged Suspense Story
This is an entertaining novel written in an offbeat gothic style. The author uses her knowledge of music to construct an artistic atmosphere, and her knowledge of the paranormal to scare us all with supernatural events. For those who like emotionally charged suspense stories, HOUSE OF STRANGE MUSIC is a winner!

Houses on Country Roads: Essays on the Places, Seasons, and Peoples of the Four Corners Country
Published in Paperback by Durango Herald Small Press Co (01 January, 1995)
Author: Ian Thompson
Average review score:

Western Refreshment
Here is a collection of essays written as a column for the Durango Harold newspaper from 1985 to 1995 by an archeologist, newspaper editor, mayor and fifth generation Coloradoan. Part almanac and part personal reflection, this book is a collection of sparkling, poetic nature writing that will cleanse and refresh the city-weary soul. Each essay carefully illuminates this segment of the western landscape for those who may think they already know it and for those who don't know it at all. The descriptions alone are so precise and accurate that Thompson could be writing of only one place in the world. At the same time, Thompson's choice of words and the way he skillfully uses language to draw meaning and signifcance from his surroundings is at once wise, prophetic, disturbing and comforting. This a book that provides inspiration over that first cup of coffee in the morning. It is also a book that provides rest and assurance that somewhere the world is still beautiful even after a long, difficult day at work.

Humanists and Reformers: A History of the Renaissance and Reformation
Published in Paperback by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. (March, 1996)
Author: Bard Thompson
Average review score:

Thorough and Friendly
I have been reading sections of this book for a class in Church History that I am co-teaching this semester, and I love it. Thompson does an inspiring job at making each individual a "real person" for the reader, which is often hard to find in history texts. Also, his in-depth and thorough look at both movements and people never becomes pedantic or tiresome, but rather creates a greater context into which these elements truly make sense. His writing is reachable, clear, humorous - friendly to the casual and professional student of the Reformation. Highly recommended!

I Will Tell of My War Story: A Pictorial Account of the Nez Perce War (Samuel and Althea Stroum Book)
Published in Paperback by University of Washington Press (June, 2000)
Author: Scott M. Thompson
Average review score:

Scott Thompson finds buried treasure
For anyone who likes the history of Native American Culture or military history, this book is an interesting find. The pictures found in the "cash book" by Mr. Thompson in 1990 illustrate a hidden viewpoint of the Nez Perce War. An unknown Indian warrior who traveled with the Nez Perce during their flight from the U.S. Army recorded some brilliant pictures in full color. These pictures, preserved by Indian Agent Charles Warner, are first shown to the public in this book. The pictures are not only full of cultural symbolism, but also portray historical figures. If you have interest in what happened in America's wars with the Indians, Chief Joseph, or the Pacific Northwest this book is worth looking into. I think that it is interesting just to see the pictures. Although the book is an academic publication with footnotes and all, it is well written and reads easily.
